I went to the doctor on April 17th, these pictures were taken April 25th, and I still have a small bruise today! Since I hadn't been to the doctor in a while, she thought it was necessary to take some blood and run tests on it. I asked for the lady to come into the room because I didn't want to go to the lab. I've never passed out while having blood taken but wanted to lay down while she took it. So, she comes in and preps the area, puts the needle in and says, "Well, your vein just doesn't want to get stuck" and proceeds to hold the area down with one hand and maneuver the needle with her other hand until I hear and feel this "click." Ugh, it was so gross and didn't feel very good. She takes all six things of blood and puts the cotton ball on so I can leave. I get my stuff together and walk out and my arm starts to throb. I see her working in the lab so I stick my head in to ask, "Is this going to bruise because it really hurts right now?" She responds, "Oh, no. Here put this warm pack on it...you'll be just fine." So, I put the warm pack on it like she says. Needless to say, the lady was wrong and I still have a bruise on my arm almost 2 weeks later!!! I'm never having blood taken again!

That lady doesn't know what the heck she's doing OR talking about!! Matt had a VERY similar bruise on his lower arm b/c at med school they had a lets-practice-on-each-other thing and he had a 3rd year stick him and did a TERRIBLE job. I almost took pictures of his arms too. I don't know if you're going to be able to avoid having your blood drawn again, but you definitely CAN avoid the not so talented blood drawers.
Why did you have to have your blood tested? They don't just do that routinely, do they?

Kristen, just tell us all the truth. You are pregnant, and thats why your are getting your blood tested, right?! ha ha. you know my mind. Its crazy.
Ohmy! That is terrible = ( I had a crazy nurse like that one time too...Hope it goes away soon!
I've had a lot of blood drawn in my life and I can honestly say I've never had anything near that bad. That is pretty horrible. It's ten times more annoying when they can't admit they screwed up. lame.
